August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day and our Harm Reduction Program will host a Naloxone education & distribution event from 1pm to 7pm on the Lee Memorial Park lawn behind the Bellingham Public Library (210 Central Avenue).

WCHD staff and a registered nurse will be on hand to answer questions and provide information, guidance, and training on administering Naloxone (aka Narcan). Attendees ages 18 and over may request a free nasal Narcan kit (while supplies last) along with education on Narcan administration.

We have seen an increase in opioid overdoses within our county, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. An overdose touches the lives of friends, families, and neighbors of those with substance abuse disorder. Learn how to respond in the event of an overdose. You could save a life.

Our upcoming event will let you find out more about:

  • How to identify an overdose.
  • How to respond to an overdose.
  • How to use nasal naloxone.
  • How to safely store naloxone.
  • Good Samaritan laws, and any other questions.
