May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and we recognize a heartbreaking truth: Indigenous people, especially indigenous women and girls, are murdered and missing at much higher rates than other groups. This is a problem here, and this is a problem right now: Washington State ranks #2 in a study conducted by Urban Indian Health Institute  Here are a few ways you can get involved: Join Lummi Victims of Crime on May 5, 2022 at noon for the annual MMIWP Memorial Walk at the Haxton/Kwina Roundabout (Lummi, WA 98226) in honor of missing or murdered local family members. Wear red to help raise awareness and show support to those struggling with the loss of a loved one. View the REDress Project art installation at the Whatcom Museum that continues through May 15. https://www.whatcommuseum.org/exhibition/redress-project/
