Rick Larsen, a U.S. Congressman representing Washington’s 2nd district since 2001, recently shared updates on infrastructure projects funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) via his social media platform. The series of posts highlight significant developments in public transportation and infrastructure within his district.

On November 15, 2024, Larsen announced that thanks to the BIL, the Mount Vernon Library Commons project now includes “76 EV chargers & related infrastructure,” making it “the largest public EV charging center in the United States.” “Thanks to the BIL, the @MVLibraryCommon project included 76 EV chargers & related infrastructure – making the project the largest public EV charging center in the United States!”

In another post on the same day, Larsen highlighted advancements in local transit with Island Transit receiving funds for “12 new hydrogen buses & fueling infrastructure.” This development aims to improve transportation efficiency and environmental impact on Whidbey Island and Camano Island. “Thanks to the BIL, @Island_Transit has the funding to purchase 12 new hydrogen buses & fueling infrastructure, helping to keep people moving on Whidbey Island & Camano Island while reducing maintenance costs & pollution.”

Additionally, Larsen mentioned a grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Transportation to the Port of Anacortes for replacing an old commercial dock. This initiative is expected to enhance seafood landings and other maritime activities while expanding public access. “Just this week, @USDOT awarded the Port of #Anacortes a BIL grant to demolish & replace the nearly 50-year-old commercial T-Dock to accommodate more seafood landings & other commercial & Tribal maritime business while expanding public access.”
