Some people in Whatcom County are fed up with new COVID-19 restrictions implemented by Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA), so much so they hosted a rally called "The Turkey Day Rebellion."
The statewide restrictions that took effect this week include a banning indoor social gatherings and indoor service at both bars and restaurants. Those at the rally believe these limitations have gone "too far."
People in attendance included state lawmakers, business owners, and other people in the community. They said they're upset about these new rules and the effect it will have on both local businesses and Thanksgiving get togethers. State Sen. Doug Ericksen (R-District 42) told KING-TV his office has received calls from businesses who won't be able to survive these new restrictions.
Some people at the rally said they won't limit Thanksgiving gatherings. They also want to make their voices heard by planning similar rallies.
