The first Marineers' Pageant kicked off today in 1937. Though not around today, (having been replaced by events like the Arts Festival), the Pageant was once one of the biggest celebrations of the year. Banquets would sometimes go through thousands of grilled fish in a day, boat races off of Cap Sante would wow crowds of people, and of course the annual Pageant parade was a town favorite, with many organizations sponsoring floats of their own and prizes for participating girls.
