Thank you Skagit County! The Anacortes Polar Plunge Dash and Splash fundraiser surpassed our $5,000 goal by raising more than $6,700 for Special Olympics Washington!  This event would not have been possible without the support and generosity of many local businesses – see the entire list in the photos.

The awards categories included Top Individual Fundraiser, Top Fundraising Team, Team Costume, Individual Costume and 5K Fun Run First Place.

Top Individual Fundraiser: Becky Clifford – Anacortes School District Inclusive Services Team Team Costume: Anacortes Library Team – Fantastical Beasts (unfortunately no photo was taken)Individual Costume – Western Washington Viking 5K Fun Run Winner – Jeremy Terrell (ran the 5K on his lunch break from Dad’s Diner!)

At the time of the awards ceremony, the Anacortes School District Inclusive Services Team led the Sedro-Woolley Police Girls Team for Top Fundraising Team by $30 and were announced as the Top Fundraising Team. Shortly after, due to additional donations, the Sedro Woolley Team took the lead. Then, ASD pulled ahead again.  As the top spot has continued to go back and forth (I’m thinking there might be some “slightly” competitive people on both teams!), it has been determined to declare BOTH teams as our Top Fundraising Teams!  We know the true winners will be the Special Olympics Athletes who will benefit from all the participants’ efforts.

Again, thanks to all who participated and contributed, and see you in 2024!
