Rick Larsen, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 2nd district, recently shared a series of tweets expressing concern over presidential pardons granted to individuals involved in violent incidents against law enforcement officers.

On January 22, 2025, Larsen tweeted about Steven Cappuccio's actions during an incident where he "brutally beat Officer Daniel Hodges in the face while he was stuck in a door." Larsen criticized the President for freeing Cappuccio and "hundreds of other violent felons from prison." The full tweet can be accessed here.

In another tweet on the same day, Larsen highlighted DJ Rodriguez's attack on Officer Michael Fanone. He stated that Rodriguez "repeatedly shocked Officer Michael Fanone with a taser," which resulted in Fanone losing consciousness and suffering a heart attack. Larsen expressed disapproval of the President's decision to pardon Rodriguez and others involved in similar acts. The tweet is available here.

Additionally, Larsen commented on David Dempsey's release from prison by stating that Dempsey had "stomped on at least one police officer’s head" and used various objects as weapons against officers. According to Larsen, this release included "hundreds of others back on our streets." This post can be viewed here.
