Rep. Rick Larsen, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 2nd district, shared his activities and opinions through a series of tweets over Martin Luther King Jr. Day and beyond.
On January 20, 2025, Rep. Larsen tweeted about participating in Lynnwood's ninth annual Day of Service alongside Mayor Frizzell and volunteers. He stated, "It was a great start to Martin Luther King Jr. Day with Mayor Frizzell and volunteers at the @lynnwood’s ninth annual Day of Service! I worked alongside dozens of volunteers to regravel & beautify the Mesika Trail behind City Hall on the Civic Center campus."
The following day, January 21, 2025, he highlighted various service projects hosted by six YMCA branches in Snohomish County in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. One such project involved crafting blankets for animals at Everett Animal Shelter. Larsen tweeted, "Six @YMCASnoCo branches hosted unique local service projects in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, including the #Everett Family @ymca, which hosted volunteers to craft dog & cat blankets for @EverettAnimals."
On January 22, 2025, Rep. Larsen expressed his disapproval regarding presidential pardons issued on that day for individuals involved in violent acts against police officers during the events of January 6, 2021. He wrote, "On his first day in office, the President pardoned hundreds of felons who violently attacked police officers on January 6, 2021. No one who respects law enforcement can support these outrageous pardons."
