Rep. Rick Larsen, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Washington's 2nd District since 2001, recently expressed his concerns via social media regarding the actions of the new administration. He criticized what he described as an illegal funding freeze and questioned its implications for federal funding and basic services.
On January 28, 2025, Rep. Larsen shared his perspective on the issue, stating that "The new Administration’s illegal funding freeze chokes off virtually all federal funding for basic services – a reckless move that hurts jobs & raises prices on the working families I represent."
Continuing his critique on the same day, he questioned the motives behind this decision, asserting that "Why is the new Administration doing this? To pay for a massive tax cut for corporations & the wealthiest Americans. It’s time the Administration start caring about the working people I represent."
In another post from January 28, 2025, Rep. Larsen elaborated on his concerns regarding an executive order (EO) associated with these changes. He noted that "Chaos & confusion is the point: the EO blocks funding to pay teachers, support first responders, provide mental health services & house homeless vets. It undermines progress to invest in roads, bridges, highways & other WA-02 infrastructure that create jobs & keeps the PNW moving."
