Western Washington University seniors Daniel Hornbuckle and Lucas Holden were  honored for academic and athletic achievement with selection to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Men’s Basketball Team.
 
The Viking duo also earned GNAC All-Academic honors and made up two of the three selections to the All-District Academic team from the conference.
 
Hornbuckle (Fairbanks, AK) became a first-time member to the Academic All-District team after earning a pair of All-GNAC Academic and NABC Honors Court awards. The guard is nearing graduation with a degree in journalism and public relations while carrying a GPA of 3.70. On the court Hornbuckle appeared in 54 games over two seasons with the Vikings, scoring 735 points for a 13.6 per game average and making 148 three-pointers. As a senior in 2022-23 he averaged 13.3 points per game.
 
Holden (Anaheim Hills, CA) has maintained a 3.62 GPA while pursuing his degree in chemistry at WWU. The left-handed shooting guard made 74 three-pointers in two season at WWU. In two seasons with the Vikings Holden scored 439 points and for his collegiate career including junior college scored 939 points in 115 games.
 
Nominees to the program must be of sophomore standing or greater and must be a starter or important reserve on their team with a minimum GPA of 3.50 or greater. Players must have participated in at least 50 percent of their team’s game. In a change to the program for 2022-23, all nominees who met the selection criteria and were nominated by their institutions were named to the Academic All-District Team. Institutions could nominate a maximum of four players for the team.
