Skagit County anticipated more doses of COVID-19 vaccines to arrive.
The county expected 500 doses of the Moderna vaccine, Go Skagit reported.
The county is working on providing emergency medical service providers and others in the first group of eligible people the vaccine.
County Health Officer Howard Leibrand said recently that the county was sent 200 doses, but since amounts are coming in quickly, it’s hard to say the exact number received.
“It’s all in flux,” Leibrand said, Go Skagit reported.
Swinomish Chairman Steve Edwards also said tribal elders are starting to receive the vaccine.
“We all know that elders everywhere are vulnerable, and that’s especially true in Indian Country where our extended families may share homes,” Edwards said, Go Skagit reported. “We also want to protect our health care workers and first responders who risk COVID-19 every day as they work to keep us all safe.”
