Skagit County’s 7-day case rate has decreased by 3 percent since last week, and our 7-day hospitalization rate has decreased by 25 percent. This week, one new COVID-19 related death was reported. Skagit County remains at a “Moderate” disease transmission level.

We are once again trending downward after last week’s slight uptick. Please note however that this data is through April 16th and does not include any cases or hospitalizations that may have been reported over the holiday weekend or in the days following. To know the impact of the holiday weekend, we will have to wait until next week’s data report. It is estimated that we may see a slight increase again due to holiday gatherings.

Federal Mask Updates

As a result of a court order, effective as of April 18, 2022, the CDC’s January 29, 2021 order requiring masks on public transportation conveyances and at transportation hubs is no longer in effect. Therefore, the CDC will not enforce the Order. The CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings at this time.

Treatment Options

COVID-19 medications are now available through your doctor, local pharmacies, and health clinics. If you have COVID-19 symptoms and test positive, do not wait to get treated. Early intervention with COVID-19 therapeutics can reduce the risk of severe illness and hospitalization for people with COVID-19 who are at high risk of developing more serious illness.

If you think you might qualify, please speak to your healthcare provider first and get a referral and/or prescription for treatment.
