Mayor’s Arts Awards recipients announced

Mayor Seth Fleetwood announced today the recipients of the annual Mayor’s Arts Awards. A reception and award ceremony honoring the awardees is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. June 29, 2022, at the Mount Baker Theatre. The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s awards honor a broad range of artists, advocates, organizations and performances that have significantly contributed to the arts in our community in recent years. Award winners were chosen based on nominations submitted by community members, received for 2019, 2020 and 2021. Events for recent years were postponed due to the pandemic. 

Mayor’s Arts Awards will be presented to the following recipients:

  • Jan Peters – Irish and Folk Music Mondays
  • Susan J. Erickson – Sue C. Boynton Poetry
  • Linda Short – Voice Director Bellingham High School
  • John D’Onofrio – Adventures NW Magazine
  • Deborah Brown – Whatcom Chorale
  • Charli Daniels – Bellingham Music Club
  • Saturna Capital – Mount Baker Theatre Season Sponsor
  • Amy Kepferle- Cascadia Weekly and Cascadia Daily News
  • Tim Johnson – Cascadia Weekly
  • Heather Hitt –  Burnish Clay Studio
  • Susan Hanson – Coin Trick Podcast for Children
  • Sacha Bliese – FAB (Fine Arts Building)
  • Brooke Evans – Opus Performing Arts
  • Teresa Dalton – Firehouse Performing Art Center
  • Bellingham Community Chorus
  • Chuckanut Writers Conference
  • Bellingham Theatre Guild
  • Whatcom Arts Project
  • Majestic Adventures

To learn more about each awardee and their accomplishments, please attend the celebration scheduled for June 29, 2022, at the Mount Baker Theatre, Main Stage, located at 104 N. Commercial Street in downtown Bellingham. This is a free public event requiring a ticket for entry, please visit the Mayor’s Arts Award ticket site on the Mount Baker Theatre website to get your ticket. Tickets will also be available at the door. A short reception begins at 5:30 p.m. with the ceremony beginning at 6:00 p.m.
